Education/Outreach

More than 50% of our education program is funded through the Department of State Health Services. These funds provide Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties with services such as Risk Reduction Strategies, Testing, Counseling, Education and specific evidence based interventions. For more information and a look at HIV services and planning for the state see http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/hivstd/default.htm

Our Title IV Youth Initiative project targeting adolescents age 13 to 24, provides education, testing, resources and hosts an advisory group of community stakeholders whose primary focus is services for youth.  For information on national programs funded under this initiative go to http://hab.hrsa.gov/

Our most recent federally funded five year project know as Mi Vida Nueva targets substance use, HIV and Hepatitis C among at risk Minority and Reentry Minority populations.  We are in the development of the Strategic Planning Framework for year one and partner with Sandstone Health Care.  For other CSAP funded programs see http://www.samhsa.gov/Matrix/matrix_HIV.aspx
