Volunteer Opportunities

Outreach Activities: Distribute information, safer sex materials, syringe cleaning kits to targeted populations; staff literature tables at health fairs.

Volunteer Services: Serve on committee that develops recruitment, training, planning, of special events and continued service of volunteers.

General Office: Provide general office support to any of the three sites. Basic computer data entry, help with mailings, typing, filing, answering the telephone and hotline, making safer sex packets, etc...

Speakers Bureau: Present AIDS awareness presentations in English and/or Spanish to schools, colleges, churches, businesses, civic groups, and other organizations. Volunteer speakers include various professionals, those who are HIV positive to living with AIDS, caregivers and those who have lost a loved one to AIDS.

Special Events: Assist with major fundraising events and/or AIDS awareness events.

To become a volunteer call 956-840-3629 or 1-800-333-SIDA to talk with the Human Resources Department, or stop by any of the three locations to pick up a volunteer application form. Fill out the application form, return it by mail or drop it off. The Human Resources Director will call you to set up a time for you to come in to the office.

Valley AIDS Council (VAC) is a private, non-profit organization which provides primary outpatient care and support services to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in South Texas.
