Roy Rutledge a Rio Grande Valley native has spent most of his life in Houston, Texas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Le Tourneau University located in Longview, Texas. In Houston Roy was most recently employed by Legacy Community Health Services formally Montrose Clinic. Montrose Clinic was one of the first HIV clinics in the country to provide Healthcare services, Treatment and Education in the Houston area.
Roy worked as a Wellness Program Manager for Legacy. He was a Provider and managed Rehabilitation and Exercise Therapy services for HIV positive clients. This was not limited to clients with other chronic and debilitating illnesses. He Developed and implemented Body Positive Employee Worksite Wellness. The program’s goal was to promote healthier lifestyles and enhance employee’s wellbeing. Program participants could choose to take part in personalized exercise activities, or wellness education activities. This included nutrition education, smoking cessation, and weight management classes to name a few.
At Westbrook Roy hopes to bring his life experiences to partner with patients and help guide them through the ever changing healthcare system. This means involving patients and their families in the decision-making process. Empowering clients to take charge and self-manage their chronic conditions will only result in healthier outcomes.
