Dr. Dora A. Martinez was born and raised in Harlingen, TX. She attended Rice University in Houston, TX where she double majored in sociology and studio art. She went on to attend the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. She completed her third and fourth years of medical school training in Harlingen at the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC). She completed residency training in Family Medicine at the Valley Baptist Family Practice Residency Program in Harlingen. She also completed a 2 year fellowship in Integrative Medicine from the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine under the instruction of Dr. Andrew Weil. Dr. Martinez received the Pfizer Teacher Development Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians in August 2012. She is currently an assistant clinical professor of family and community medicine for UTHSCSA-RAHC.
