Ruben D. Martinez has a demonstrated life-long commitment and dedication to providing high-quality medical care to marginalized and disenfranchised populations.
As Medical Director of the Westbrook Clinics in the Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi since August 2012, Dr. Martinez utilizes his training expertise in infectious diseases, women’s health, and general medicine to develop and implement policies, procedures and best practices focusing on the diagnosis and clinical treatment of HIV disease and its related health conditions and to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Martinez received a B.A. from the University of Texas, and completed his graduate M.D. Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Following his medical training, he returned to south Texas where he has been a practicing physician and surgeon since 1982. In addition to his duties at the Westbrook Clinics he also continues to serve as Clinical Professor of OB-GYN at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
